Our local stage company San Benito Stage Company has delighted many over the years with their plays and musicals. Nothing is better than sitting in Mission San Juan Bautista listening to the Oriana Chorale preform their Christmas musical; it is magical. You can even take a painting classes with the San Benito County Arts Council or walk through several of our galleries gazing upon others works of art.
El Teatro Campesino in San Juan Bautista offers a variety of stage productions throughout the year. It is known for its focus on the Hispanic culture and history. One of its more famous yearly productions is the holiday show “La Pastorela”.
San Benito Stage Company is a non-profit performing arts association dedicated to producing local musical and theatrical workshops, plays, and performances. They provide high-quality live entertainment for the entire community of San Benito County, while developing performing arts and production skills for their members.
Oriana Chorale is a non-profit organization dedicated to giving live performances of vocal music and music education in San Benito County. Oriana seeks the best in classical, folk, Broadway, light opera, pop, and gospel vocal music, giving its audiences and singers a variety of musical experiences.
Music in the Park is a community event that takes place every last Saturday of the month from April through October. Bands play from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Dunne Park. Find out who is playing each month from the Community Calendar on The San Benito County Chamber of Commerce website.
The San Benito County Arts Council’s mission is to promote diversity, quality and involvement in the arts for all residents in San Benito County, encourage cultural and artistic growth and create opportunities for the production of art, provide access to the arts through programs in the visual, performing and media arts, establish a favorable climate for artists to live and work and for the arts to thrive. ArtSpace is a hub for community engagement, learning and interaction in the arts. Art classes are available for youth & adults, art exhibitions & receptions, workshops for artists, members’ gatherings & rental opportunities.
San Juan Bautista has several art galleries in its downtown area.
Ano Né Gallery showcases the works of artist Futzie Nutzle. The gallery hours are 11am to 5pm, Friday – Sunday.
Rare Light Gallery, is where you can find the photography of Larry Gerbrandt. His work ranges from fine art nature to local landscapes.
Mission Gallery focuses on original prints by living artists. You can find oil paintings, etchings, engravings and other works on paper. These are works of artists from all over the world.
At Southwest Roundup Gallery you will find original fine art and giclees, iron and antler lamps, chandeliers, rawhide shades, custom wood furniture, designer apparel, wool weavings, pillows and rugs, western leather gear and trappings, engraved silver, books and accessories. These items are handcrafted by traditional artisans who have a focus on western lifestyles. Gallery hours are 11am to 4pm, Thursday – Saturday, however other days & times are available by appointment.
